

Michelle Phillips (b. June 4, 1944) rose to prominence as a member of The Mamas and the Papas during the mid-60s. Her voice was deemed by Time magazine as the "purest soprano in pop music." As a founding member of the group, Philips co-wrote many of their hits, including California Dreamin'. This single, along with Monday, Monday, were certified as gold records by RIAA.
During the 1970s, Philips transitioned into a successful acting career. Duffy photographed the actress for a feature titled 'Molls of the Moment' published on 3rd February 1974. Phillips had just starred in the John Milius film 'Dillinger' (1973) starring Warren Oates.
Also, Katherine Baumann, who at the time had just starred in an episode of "M*A*S*H." Angel Tompkins and Juanita Brown were also photographed for the feature.
