American singer Ella Fitzgerald (1917 - 1996) was photographed for British Vogue on the 14th of March 1961.

Ella was capable of singing in numerous styles but was best known for her jazz and scat-style performances. She was the most popular jazz singer in the US for more than half a century, selling over 40 million records and earning the title 'The First Lady of Song.'
