Alexandra Stewart was born in Montreal in 1939. In 1958 she moved to Paris to study art. Within a year of arriving she was starring in her first film. Since then she has worked continuously in both French and English language films.

In 1968, Stewart starred in the film "Only When I Larf" which was produced by Duffy. The film was based on the book by Len Deighton.
