

Len Deighton is a British author. His debut novel 'The IPCRESS File' (1962) became a best-seller. This was later adapted into a film starring Michael Caine. After his national service in the RAF as a photographer, he studied at St Martins School of Art where he met future graphic designer Ray Hawkey, who would later illustrate Deighton's early novels and the title sequence for 'Oh! What a Lovely War' (1969).
