Sir John Young "Jackie" Stewart OBE was born on 11th June 1939 in Scotland. After having problems due to undiagnosed dyslexia at school, his education came to an end at age 16. At this point, he began working as a mechanic in his father's garage. In the early '60s, He took up an offer from a customer of the family business to test a number of his cars at the Oulton Park race track. This led to the start of Stewart’s Formula 3 racing career in 1964, where during his debut race at Snetterton, he won by 44 seconds. Stewart raced professionally until his retirement in 1973. Stewart held the record for most wins by a Formula One driver (27) for 14 years until 1987. Stewart went on to become a commentator for the sport covering races worldwide before, in 1997, returning to the sport as a team owner of Stewart Grand Prix.
