Glenda Jackson CBE (9 May 1936 - 15 June 2023) Was an English actress and former Labour Party politician. Jackson's extensive acting career included the Royal Shakespeare Company, and she won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for 'Women in Love' (1970) and 'A Touch of Class' (1973). Further, Jackson won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Tony Award, making her the 24th person in history to achieve the so-called 'Triple Crown' of acting.
Jackson’s career in politics began in 1992 when she was elected as the MP for Hampstead and Highgate and served as a Junior Transport minister from 1997 to 1999. She remained in politics, covering the Hampstead area until standing down at the 2015 general election. After, Jackson returned to acting to great acclaim with her final role starring alongside Michael Caine in ' The Great Escaper' (2023).
