Born in Scotland in 1952, Jenkins became a European record holder for the 400m sprint before he was 17.
The article titled 'A Match For Anyone' states, 'One man is utterly confident of David Jenkins's chances of a gold medal in the 400 meters. That man is David Jenkins.' Sadly, he only got a silver medal.
However, His personal best in the 400m became the British Record from 1971 to 1985.
