

Claire Tomalin (b. 20 June 1933) is an English author and journalist known for her historical biographies on Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Samuel Pepys, Jane Austen, and Mary Wollstonecraft. While raising her family, she worked in publishing and journalism as literary editor of the New Statesman, then The Sunday Times.
The date is an approximation. However, Claire Tomalin had memories of the session being linked with Town magazine, arranged by her then-husband, Nicholas Tomalin.
