'The SIXTIES' Duffy's online exhibtion at SOL.LDN from 16the July to 20th October 2024 showing Duffy’s classic black-and-white images that were shot for Vogue, Queen Magazine, and French Elle.
'We are pleased to announce a new online exhibition dedicated to Brian Duffy’s cutting-edge fashion photography from the 1960s. Shooting for some of the world’s top magazines, including Vogue, Elle and Queen, Duffy became a prominent influence on the aesthetic of this iconic decade. As a blizzard of talent and contradictions, Duffy mixed his street-based style with close-cropped compositions, exaggerated angles and theatrical poses. He was also partial to studio photography, sometimes with white, minimal backgrounds in the style of his good friend, David Bailey. While Duffy worked for Elle until 1979, the photographs he took for Vogue in the 1960s were his most influential. With a sole focus on this decade, this exhibition presents eighteen of Duffy’s black-and-white fashion images and celebrity portraits from London, Italy, France and Morocco'.
