Duffy photographed Paulette Goddard in New York following the reissue of “Modern Times” (1936). The Charlie Chaplin film was re-released focussing attention back on to Goddard in the early seventies.

Born in New York in 1910, Paulette Goddard became a child model at age 13. She worked in the theatre and various films before gaining fame from her relationship and subsequent role with Charlie Chaplain in “Modern Times” (1936). Her career continued to develop with roles in “The Dictator” (1940) and “So Proudly We Hail!” (1943) which gained her an Oscar nomination.

The year she was photographed by Duffy would mark her last film role in December 1972.
