Sunday Times - 1940s Fashion - 1976

A group of 1940s enthusiasts all under 21 from Essex for the article 'Back In The Mood.' The now iconic Gold Mine venue in Canvey Island, Essex, became an unlikely home for a 1940s dance revival under the direction of DJ Chris Hall.

The Essex club operated an 'Impossible selectivity at the door' and the venue nurtured other movements before and after this such as the 60s Mod scene and the New Romantics in the 80s.
