

Sixteen images taken during the Aladdin Sane Album Cover session that Duffy shot with Bowie in 1973 were arranged around the iconic final image. The contact sheet reveals David’s permanently dilated left eye. One of his most recognisable features was incurred in 1962 during a fight over a girl with his lifelong friend George Underwood. As one of our most popular images, it is also available as an 'Eyes Open' limited edition of nine images.
Taken by Duffy during the second of five sessions with David Bowie – Duffy’s most famous photograph dates from 1973, the iconic and revolutionary cover of David Bowie’s album – Aladdin Sane. This shot became the defining look of Bowie’s long career and has been referred to as the “Mona Lisa of pop.”
