Leo Joseph Suenens - Archbishop - 1972

Leo Joseph Suenens (b.16 July 1904 – 6 May 1996) Belgium born Catholic who rose to high prominence and at the time of his death he was one of the four living Cardinals elevated by Pope John XXIII.

Cardinal Suenens served as Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussel from 1961 to 1979. It was during this time Duffy photographed him for the Sunday Times Magazine published on the 2nd April 1972. The original article can be seen here.
