Jackie Steward – Monaco 1966

Sir John Young “Jackie” Stewart OBE was born on 11th June 1939 in Scotland. After having problems due to undiagnosed dyslexia at school his education came to an end at age 16. At this point he began working as a mechanic in his fathers garage. In the early 60s He took up an offer from a customer of the family business to test in a number of his cars at Oulton Park race track. This led to the start of Stewart’s Formula 3 racing career in 1964, where in his debut race at Snetterton he won by 44 seconds. Stewart raced professionally until his retirement in 1973. Stewart held the record for most wins by a Formula One driver (27) for 14 years until 1987. Stewart went on to become a commentator for the sport covering races all over the world before, in 1997, returning to the sport as a team owner of Stewart Grand Prix. This later became Jaguar Racing and now Red Bull Racing. In 2018 he set up the charity Race Against Dementia.
